Have you ever thought of what you would do if the media affixed a label on a news incident for which your company will forever become associated?
Years ago, there was an incident in which an individual responded to an ad on Criagslist that allegedly resulted in a murder. That individual was labeled the “Craingslist Killer.”
Recently, a middle-aged man I Kalamazoo, MI, who happened to be an Uber driver, allegedly went on a shooting spree, purportedly after picking up fares as an Uber driver. Uber said this individual passed his background check. The media labeled his “The Uber Gunman.”
Of course Uber issued a statement which included condolences to the families the victims and the one surviving victim of the shootings. But, does that erase the label the media created?
When your business is labeled, whether by the media or via social media, you need an experienced firm, such as The Attitude Group, that can hit the ground running.
You need a firm that can punt the ball and drop-kick it with reputation management techniques and crisis management services that can counter negative impressions with positive social media posts and public and media relations efforts designed and honed to stem the tide that could impair your company’s reputation, not to mention years of goodwill that could be affected. (After all, goodwill adds to the value of your business).
The media label will likely survive in cyberspace and through the likes of Wikipedia, an effective and rapid response can serve to benefit your business now and in the future.
There have even been incidents in which lawsuits have been filed against those impugning the reputations of others. While The Attitude Group is not a law firm. It is a well-experienced and well-staffed firm that knows what to say and how to say it without risking lawsuits that could result if you don’t have specific words for a specific purpose.
For these and other reasons, it is always good to have The Attitude Group on a monthly retainer.
Remember, where other agencies can’t, The Attitude Group can.
